Project Overview

The client DocVoice needed a solution that would combine entrepreneurial and healthcare experience. Their idea was to eliminate the movement of people to visit hospitals, especially the elderly, to the extent that they only needed to step out in case of emergency. Otherwise, they remain engaged with doctors, primary caretakers or kin to make decisions for their health by connecting digitally.
DocVoice was developed with a vision of a healthcare solution for professionals to make a remote patient vital monitoring & engagement firm with a low-cost, turnkey, and scalable solution.

The Client’s Requirement

DocVoice came to us with their expectation of having a web application that is for professionals but more patient-centric. They had two primary clear and uncompromising requirements:
The first one was related to Data: Real-time data collection was the critical factor that will help doctors analyze and keep patients' data and biometric details up front to assist with their health problems.
Another one was EHR integration via the industry-standard FHIR. They wanted to use the FHIR so healthcare organizations could easily integrate EHR systems, enhancing data interoperability, reducing integration costs, and improving the overall quality of patient care.

Challenges

Data Leakage Prevention:

Preventing patient leakage involves ensuring daily patient engagement, seamless system integration with EHR, RPM CPT billing and administration billing, and administration, as well as addressing the high time and productivity costs in managing chronic disease communication.

Need for Integration of Biometric Devices into DocVoice:

The diverse device ecosystem demands varying protocols and data formats to necessitate robust and adaptable integration frameworks. Timely identification of out-of-range vital signs is critical for providing prompt care and avoiding unnecessary hospital visits. Developing a system that can monitor data in real-time and generate immediate alerts for healthcare providers is challenging due to the need for robust, low-latency data processing and transmission. This complex integration process requires significant technical expertise and resources.

Cross-platform Compatibility was another critical challenge for the DocVoice development team.

Patients and healthcare providers use various operating systems like iOS, Android, and Windows, each with unique development requirements. DocVoice must also function effectively on diverse devices, necessitating adaptive and responsive design.

Version fragmentation, where operating systems and devices vary in software versions and hardware capabilities, adds complexity. Supporting a broad range of versions without compromising performance or security is a significant ongoing challenge for the team.

User Interface for the Elderly:

Designing a UI for elderly users involves unique challenges. The interface must be intuitive, with clear navigation, large icons, readable fonts, and simple workflows to avoid confusion. Accessibility features like voice commands, screen readers, high-contrast modes, and adjustable text sizes are essential for those with visual, auditory, or motor impairments.

  • TecRev LLC development team worked on deploying cloud-based infrastructure that facilitates real-time data processing. Its implementation also made DocVoice seamlessly follow communication protocol with low latency.

  • The team worked on prototyping using the Figma tool. Then, to bridge the gap between the conceptual phase and the actual product development, Native Android Studio UI Builder for Android application, Xcode UI Builder for iOS Applications and Angular Materials for Angular (Ngx) UI was utilized.

Considering the demographic of patients reaching out to doctors, we put up the spider graph that offers a comprehensive and intuitive way to visualize and interpret complex health data, eventually improving doctor-patient engagement.

It can display the following metrics for a patient: 

  • Heart Rate
  • Blood Pressure
  • Blood Glucose Level
  • BMI/Weighing Scale
  • Oxygen Saturation

It displays, above all, multivariate data in the form of a two-dimensional chart, which proves useful for simultaneously visualizing multiple health metrics of a patient, allowing for quick and easy comparison.

Voice Reminders for Missing Vital readings 

This feature ensures timely data collection by prompting patients to submit vital signs like heart rate and blood pressure. It improves adherence, ensuring doctors have complete, up-to-date information to make informed decisions about patient care.

Deployment and Launch

DocVoice, a healthcare app, was developed utilizing the latest technology and keeping HIPPA and PHI compliance a priority. The deployment was carried out in a phased manner, starting with pilot testing, offering the solution to selected healthcare professionals in a few selected clinics. The feedback was gathered, and comprehensive training and support materials were additionally provided. 
  • The solution was launched nationwide after successful pilots, ensuring seamless integration and enhanced doctor-patient visibility.
